David Laroze is full professor at the University of Tarapacá (Chile). He is the Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies and holds the Chair of Mathematical Modeling. Previously, he was research associate at the Physics and Astronomy School at the University of Glasgow (United Kingdom) and postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Germany), and he has visiting professor in several international institutions. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics and was the best student of his generation, awarded the first class of Bachelor in Physics in 2002. He has published more than two hundred fifty articles in journals such as International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Macromolecules, Physics of Fluids, Chaos, Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, Communication in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulations, Applied Mathematical Modelling, Physical Review B, Atmospheric Research, Applied Physics Letters, Physical Review E, Journal of Medical Virology, to mention a few. He has been the advisor of several Bachelor’s and Ph.D. students as well as the mentor of Postdoctoral Researchers. He has participated in the scientific and organizing committees of national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer in many international journals. He has obtained several grants as a Principal Investigator as well as a co-Investigator. Nowadays, he is a member of the Chilean Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. In 2022, he joined the CMS collaboration at CERN. Currently, he is interested in mathematical modeling, nonlinear phenomena, magnetism, radiation problems, hydrodynamic instabilities, biophysics, thermal and electronic transport in quantum systems, and data treatment in high-energy physics.
